Has anyone found a legitimate work from home job? All I see are jobs that appear to be scams. They all seem to want you to pay for something. I don’t want to pay I just need to work and earn money. In the 21st century with technology as advanced as it is you would think that a person could get a legitimate work from home job in the USA that pays well. If anyone knows of any legitimate job opportunities with no fees please let me know. Thank you.

I’d like to take this opportunity to clarify a common misconception. That is that all home based opportunities that have associated start-up fees are scams. This misunderstanding stems from two factors. The first is what I call the W2 syndrome. That is, people who have always worked for someone, and therefore collected a W2 for income tax purposes, tend not to think as entrepreneurs, who understand that it cost money to start a business. This brings us to the second misunderstanding. Most of the legitimate work from home opportunities that have start up fees are not jobs, but home based franchises and, just like buying a traditional franchise, the franchisor expects you to pay for certain things, be that a website, inventory, etc. Try starting a McDonald’s for free.
There are legit work from home “jobs” but they tend to pay less than minimum wage and work from home businesses take hard work, dedication, and drive to succeed and, just like tradtional businesses, there’s no guarantee of success.
Depending on your background, you could consider medical transcription, coding or billing. I was a medical transcriptionist working from home.
Many transcriptionists get their training through a course of study while others carry their medical terminology knowledge with them from other health related fields. You would need to get the terminology down, and then get started. Many companies want experience so there’s a catch-22. However, doctors and hospitals may be hiring, and after a time you can work from home as many transcriptionists do.

In my opinion, there are good online jobs available. Over the last 2 years I have been working online as a virtual customer service rep for a credit card company. It’s honestly a very easy job—I mainly answer e-mails, add features and address general inquiries.
If I can give one piece of advice though when looking for an online job—NEVER pay a start up fee to join a work at home company or directory. Very few legitimate companies will require you to pay them in order for them in turn to pay you. It defeats the point! Moreover, there are plenty of free sites available!
Depending on your skill set—there is a tremendous range in employment opportunities you might be interested in, both part time or full time—anywhere from data entry and transcription services—to virtual customer care—to writing articles/product reviews and webpage design.
