Legitimate work from home data entry jobs?
I am currently pregnant and want a job where I can stay at home with my new baby. I am looking for a legitimate work from home data entry type job. Or other work from home jobs. I know there are a lot of scams out there. So I don’t want one that requires a fee to start it since those are all scams. If anyone knows of any good companies that do work from home jobs. Please let me know. Thank you

It’s not only the ones that require a fee that are scams. Free sign-on sites can still potentially make their money off of you just by re-selling your info on a list later. This happens quite often and is legal, believe it or not. The thing is that you don’t know whom they are selling your info to and whether or not that business/industry is legitimate. It’s the perfect setup for future identity theft, actually.
So look out.
Go on craigslist.org to look for projects. Also check elance.com, which is a project bidding site. However, there’s a test to sign on, you have to legitimately have your skill, you are up against others in bidding for a project (another reason you need real skills), and the pay IS NORMAL, AVERAGE PAY…that bears stressing: if you’re looking for more money than you’d pay outside the home, the internet is the wrong place to look, trust me. You’ll work and work hard and within a certain time limit, etc.
Not trying to discourage you. I’m a work-from-home mom too. Good luck and I hope you find something soon.
You’re right to believe that there are many scams out there on the Internet when it comes to online jobs. In fact, I’d say that 90% of those you find on even the first two pages of Google’s search result pages are scams themselves. That said, I’ve been making quite a living online for the past few years and there are a few sites that are worthwhile.
Look for the membership sites that have a free membership to begin with. The best of these programs will always allow you to upgrade to better memberships later once you’ve made some money.
With the economy being so crappy, I know a lot of people are looking for ways to make money online from the comfort of their home, rather than trying to find another job. That’s why I created two powerful videos on YouTube that you should check out for yourself!
http://www.getincomeforlifenow.com is the best online job if you have the will to succeed and you get plenty of support. There is a 7 day free trial and 10 dollars a month after that and the 10 dollars is for your own website domain.
This off-line typing opportunity only applies to the U.S., Canada and Europe.
If you are an accomplished typist – word processor and have recently visited your local 4-year university librarian, you can apply as a “certified” graduate typist, earning between $1.50 to $2.00 per page for typing a master or doctoral thesis. The librarian will ask the following questions in order to qualify you as a “certified” typist:
(1) Are you familiar and have a working knowledge of Microsoft Word?
(2) Are you able to set up section breaks along with appropriate placement of auto page numbering in the footer/header?
(3) Are you familiar with setting up a scheme with emphasis on the proper use of auto numbering, such as 1., 1.1, (a), (i), etc.?
(4) Do you have access to a scanner with built-in OCR sofware?
(5) Do you have access to a high-speed laser quality printer?
If you answer all the above questions in the affirmative, the librarian will provide you with a sample of the typing format template (i.e., margin settings, font selection, page set up, etc.) in order to complete these projects.
The librarian will then place your name on a list of “certified” graduate typists. This “certified’ list will be given to various department heads so that any graduate student seeking your services can easily contact you directly from this list.
An average weekend income is about $300-$400 for two days of work.
Good luck!
If you can write well there are a number of genuine options for you. For freelance jobs elance and guru are good option, links for genuine data entry jobs and freelance opportunities can also be found. they are all free to sign-up and seems legitimate so far to me.
There are freelance options available, but you’ll have to bid for them like an auction and compete for wages with other bidders. Regular data entry options are good but not very easy to find. I got a small list of some good options, see links section. Workers without experience start at $6.00 an hour and can go up to $11.00 an hour in larger cities. Experienced data operators earn between $7.50 and $17.00 an hour, depending on the field.
Also there are sites that pay you to do specific tasks like posting something on a forum or writing comments on some blogs, finding a logo or pic for a particular brand and uploading on some site… or similar stuff, and there are amount specified for each tasks. tasks are easy, small and simple but the payout is not very huge per task, so you might have to perform multiple tasks to get some substantial income.
There’s a lot of opportunities out there, some better than others!

Build a list and use that to begin your search. General rule of thumb: Never pay for a job (businesses, on the other hand, usually involve some expenses).
